Our Answers:

1. How do I get to Tibet?

There are two standard entry points into Tibet: from Nepal, and from mainland China, either by flight or overland or by train. We can arrange your transportation from Kathmandu or major cities in China but you need to make your own international flight arrangements. We can also arrange sightseeing in some major Chinese cities.

2. What vehicles do you use in Tibet?

Transportation in Tibet is generally provided by 4WD Toyota Landcruisers. For tours in on the main Lhasa-Shigatse-Nepal route, van or minibus is also an option for larger groups. Our drivers are the most experienced in Tibet and have driven these roads for years and we ensure our vehicles are in good condition.

4. Do you help buy China domestic flight tickets?

Yes, we can help buy all domestic flight tickets within China. Domestic flight tickets in China are standardized which means you don’t need to price shop. At any given time, ticket price for a given flight available at every online ticket purchasing site or travel agency are the same. Discounts are available from time to time. If a flight is offered at a discounted price, the same discounted price applies no matter where you purchase your ticket. However, it’s hard to tell when tickets will be on sale. E-tickets are vastly available. Ordering tickets at www.ctrip.com is pretty painless.

5. Is it easy to purchase a train ticket to Tibet?

The short answer is NO. The popularity of train travel to Tibet has resulted in the huge demand for train tickets. It's very difficult for individual travelers to get train tickets on their own. No travel agencies can guarantee successful booking. We recommend you fly to Tibet and if you would like to get a train experience, return by train. It is a lot easier to get tickets and the scenery is the same. If customers insist riding the train into Tibet, we normally contract travel agencies in your departure cities to help but we do not bear liabilities for successful booking.

7. What kind of food is available?

Traditional Tibetan food consist mainly barley, meat and dairy products. Vegetables, fruits, and fish are not part of traditional Tibetan diet. Nowadays, Tibetan food is supplemented by Chinese food, mostly Sichuan food.  With the expansion of tourism, many different styles of food become available. Vegetable and fruits are now readily available in markets. Indian food, Nepalese food and Western food are also available in Lhasa. In Lhasa, Kailash, Tashi, Snowlands, Dunya (former Crazy Yak) and Makyeame are popular among western travelers. However, be adventurous, who would have believed you traveled to Tibet if you have not tried butter tea or barley beer. Besides, butter milk tea is said to be good for relieving high altitude symptoms. Our hotels usually include breakfast.
